How do I become a member?

Any citizen of the United States may become a member of the Club by completing a Membership Appilication, subscribing to the NRA Pledge, completing a signed Range Orientation Form with a Range Saftey Officer, and payment of annual dues. The best way to join is to go to the Jim Jones Shooting Range on a Saturday and meet with a Range Safety Officer between 9 AM to 1 PM. They can provide you with the forms, do the Range Orientation and provide you with your membership card and a Gate access card.

How much does it cost?

The membership fee is $100.00 for the year, January 1, to December 31st, no prorating is provided. Please bring cash or check.

Where is the range located?

The range is located on 80 acres south of Payson, Arizona on National Forest Systems Land and operated under a joint agreement with the Tonto National Forest, Payson Ranger District and the Gila County Range Commison. Click here for more directions. The address is:

When is it open?

7 days a week for members. Non members 8 AM to 1 PM Saturdays at the 100 yard range only. No access to pistol bays nor long distance range. Call the range hot line for current conditions and closures do to Covid – 19 or fire restrictions at 928-970-1766.

How Many Guest Can A Member Bring To The Range?

The Tonto Rim Sports Club, Inc. was established in 1979 and is affiliated with the National Rifle Association, and the Arizona State Rifle and Pistol Association.


The purpose of the Club is to educate and encourage organized shooting among United States citizens of the area, with a focus on better knowledge of the safe handling and proper care of firearms, as well as improved marksmanship. It is a further purpose of the Club to foster the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play, and self-reliance. These are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of patriotism.
